Best $1.08 I ever spent was on this baby doll from the dollar store. God know what kind of sweat shop it came from or how much lead paint it's covered with or exactly how long it would take to explode when near a heat source, but Andrew loves it. When he first saw it in the living room, he went right up to it and said, "My baby," and cuddled and hugged it very gently. Then he held it by the torso and banged its head against the kitchen table for a couple of minutes. Then more hugs.
Check out the socks. One brown and one gray, simply because I asked him to choose between brown and gray.
And here he is with his other true love, the parking meter in front of his school.
Mom: Smile!
Andrew: My socks rock.

It's not so much that one's brown (I'd say more taupe, but whatever) and one's gray. It's more that one is pulled up and one is folded down.
