Censored

My god. My GOD. I just discovered my video of me and Trey in the bath violates YouTube's content policy. We've been rejected. Mom's turned me into a kiddie pornographer.

So I'll just upload it right here instead.

Censorship. It blows.

I can count!

Check out my counting. English. Spanish. I do it all.

Sorry it's so dark. Mom chose a parked car inside a dark garage to record me instead of the 55,000 other times a day I count.

Sweet

Three days before Valentine's Day, I'm thrilled to say Andrew has been SWEET for two days in a row now! He's sweet every day, of course, but lately the tantrums overshadow the sweet.

When he gets a cereal bar from the pantry, he brings me one too.

We have a chair-and-a-half, aka a snuggler, aka an oversized chair. This morning he wanted to sit next to me in it and read books. And snuggle.

I think he's trying to call me Mommy. It comes out "Nah-ni." No Davidow has ever referred to me as Mommy due to my freak-out at the mere suggestion of that handle when Andrew was born. I am Mom. Or Mama, as Andrew says. Or Jennifer, as I'm trying to get him to say. But his teachers call all the moms "Mommy." And I have to say it doesn't freak me out so much anymore.

Here are pictures of his Valentine's shirts from last year. My sweet little Love Bandit and Hunk-a Burnin' Love.

The evolution of words

Andrew has a handful of what I call "sound groups." Each sound group can mean several things. The list of things each one comprises grows by the day. If you get one wrong, you hear about it for quite a while.

Dah-dah
Puzzle; poinsetta; his friend Petra; pasta

Da-doo
Tattoo; achoo; diaper; apple; I love you

Da-di
Doggy; jacket; potty; daddy; bawbee (a Scottish halfpenny; one of the words in his favorite Scottish folk song called Coulter's Candy, a song we call Ally Bally because she is the main character and because it's way cuter)

Day
Trey, play

Die
Eye

Dih-di
Sivi; baby; Kaden; TV

Doo
Two; food; poop

Doo-doo
Legos; circle; purple; Ms. Opal

Eye
Light; wipe (but not eye, as that would be too obvious)

Nani
Magazine; monkey; yummy; bunny

No
No; nose; meow; milk; more

Neee
Knee; cream

Cross between baba and papa
Grandpa; Big Poppa (his friend Andrew S.)

Strangely, as willing as he his to double or quintuple up on word meanings, numbers are individual. Each number has its own name.

1 = Mah
2 = Doooo
3 = Diiii
4 = Doooo
5 = Figh
6 = Dih (clipped)
7 = Duh duh
8 = Eye
9 = Nigh
10 = We don't say 10

To be continued, I'm sure.
