The Back-Up

Andrew's school is closed for Good Friday, so he's visiting the Back-Up today. Events of the morning:

  • Refused to kiss me goodbye because he was playing with cars.
  • Burst into tears while he was sitting at the breakfast table -- many minutes after I left. Happened to be when I went back to fill out his form, which I had forgotten to do. Always does great things for the guilt-0-meter to see your child bawling inconsolably. I stayed out of sight so the teachers could comfort him, and he was fine by the time I left.
  • Played happily in the ballroom (big room where they run around). Messed with carbon monoxide monitor in ballroom. Set off alarm. Bawled.
  • Back to playing a few minutes later.

I'm thinking the kids who are tall enough to reach a carbon monoxide monitor are generally old enough to know to leave it alone. This'll be a good lesson to the Back-Up to move stuff like that up.

This was all before 11:20am. I'm a little afraid to call back after nap.
